bringing ideas & talent together

Eid Mubarak

Eid Mubarak has now passed and the experience was huge! Thousands of people in the streets with goats and cows in the hundreds being sacrificed on the street.  I wasn't going to go to the street.. but how could I pass up such a huge cultural experience. I was amazed by the cheer and laughter in the street.  The warmth amongst the people - sharing and joy.     It was very special to spend the day amongst the people in this spirit. Where once I have found many well off Bangladeshis quite curt with low income Bangladeshis. Not on this day.. From the end of morning prayer - donations of money were given freely to the poor.  After  the sacrifice the meat was cut into small pieces - 1/3 for the family, 1/3 neighbors & 1/3 for the poor (equal quality).  The feasting began with families gathered in abundance.  The hides were then given to the madras for the education of orphans.

I chose to watch and learn ... these pictures are from Priya and Jonathan's collection. I have removed all the sacrifice pictures..
