random thoughts

i have yet to process India. I left yesterday at the call to prayer and here i an in bed with the loud speakers chanting.

Cats are well as am i. My guest house manager / recognized as service staff, is pregnant so i will need to get someone else to help with cats as it is very dangerous for pregnant women. I am in the field for half of each month. The cats are my television and connection to unconditional love. It is really hard to see polio and leperacy rampant when less than one dollar can prevent and cure. My birthday is coming once again. I an taking this time to reflect back on life. How extrav we live. It is hard to imagine that my mobile bill in canada was 3 times what i live on here in Bangladesh and i still earn seven thousand more than the service staff who are raising families. This month i shall try to find a private yoga instructor. Women cannot go out and exersize in my city. And the one gym that allows women is only open to women for two hours a day, while i am at work. After walking in India i feel the need and love of movement. khella has an abscess so i have been researching what to do. So much i have taken for granted is lost here. today i had a talk of self- actualization. This seems impossible without basic needs being met. as my mattress is one inch thick i have had much back pain. When i am in dhaka i have found relief in a thai massage studio for ten dollars. I remember tonya at dawn's cottage giving of my first thai massage. I question decisions on buying food that is 100 tk or one dollar. I have never looked at the price of food before. My parents taught me to choose healthy and buy what you need. It is a hard transition. Knowing choosing rice noodles would feed a family of four for a week. My salary does not cover food unless i was to eat rice three times a day. Ick i don't think i could go to a high malaria country. Even with replant. i get fifty bites a day. Got bit by a mosquito that could be a carrier of dengue. Doesn't look like i caught it though. :) anyhoo better be off woke in the middle of the night. Taj Mahal - My travel friends - Cheryl, Lettie & Lilibeth (VSO volunteers)   The Lotus Temple - New Dheli - being inside was a life altering experience.. taking time.. in silence..
